Basingstoke Buffalo 9 Romford Spitfires 4
Five goals in the first period helped the Basingstoke Buffalo to stampede to a convincing 9-4 victory over the Romford Spitfires.
The home side opened the scoring at 10:08, as Joe Boot netted on the powerplay and 26 seconds later Drew Campbell doubled the lead.
The Spitfires hit back as Ben Osbourne beat under-18 goalie Russell Coker, who started in place of an unavailable Craig Astill.
The young goalie produced a great performance which saw him pick up the man-of-the-match award at the end of the game.
While he kept Romford out, the home side added three more goals, before the first buzzer, as Simon Beere netted on the powerplay, assisted by Ryan Cathcart & Michael Leary.
Campbell the scored the first of three shorthanded goals on the night, before Dean Phillimore made it 5-1
The second session saw Romford's Ben Clements face 23 shots, but not one went past him, and the Spitfires pulled a goal back thanks to Osbourne.
The Final session, saw the Buffalo hot shots hitting the net again, as Phillimore netted his second goal at 42:09
The score moved to 7-2 as Beere scored on the powerplay.
Phillimore went on to score 2 more.
As the game entered the final 10 minutes Romford netted twice from Matt Turner and Evander Grinnell to complete the scoreline.
